VALENTINE'S DAY

It’s Valentine’s Day and I feel as if I should post some sappy love story or something. My first kiss… or my first love… maybe even my first “real” relationship. I am all for love and romance but for some reason it just doesn’t feel right… Well not for this post… not today.

What I do want to talk about is the WAY people show their love and affection. I see a lot of couples get into major arguments over the way their partners express their love or the lack there of.

The way you EXPECT to be shown love and the way your mate actually shows love are often two different things.

I had to learn this the hard way. I like all that mushy lovey dovey, hearts and rainbows stuff. I like flowers just because, text messages in the middle of the day that let me know he misses me and every other cliché thing that you would find in chick flicks/romance novels.

During my relationship with “Boston” I had to learn how to SEE his love. Boston is a man of few words. Coming right out and telling me he loves me really wasn’t his thing.  He would tell me he loves me but not like those “moments” we see on TV.

Now that I am older more mature, I look back at our relationship and I realize that he showed me his love in other ways:

  1.    Boston always made sure to bring me a KitKat or Chocolate Covered Turtles when he went to the store.

  2.  I am not a beer drinker but when Boston would go and grab a beer, he would bring me a Watermelon Arizona.

  3.  Boston remembered to NOT get cheese on my burgers.

  4.  When we go to restaurants he knows that I like to have my dessert before the appetizer and entrée.

  5.  When I am going away for the weekend, he always makes sure to check the fluids in my car.

  6.  He knows that I hate driving in the rain and doesn’t complain when I am stuck at a friend’s house for a few hours due to the rain.

  7.  Boston supports and encourages my business endeavors.

  8.  He never complains about my pajama or wig collection.

  9.  Boston knows to buy me CRAYOLA CRAYONS and not ROSE ART.

  10.            For gift giving holidays Boston knows that I prefer craft supplies, electronics and books over jewelry.

These things may not seem important to you guys… but it’s the little things that matter most to me.

I've been with plenty of people who said out their mouth that they love me but their actions told a different story. Boston may not have said the words as often as I would've liked… but his actions spoke volumes.

Boston, if you are reading this… I want to let you know that I appreciate all that you have done for me and I want to apologize for not being mature enough to value what we had.

What are some ways your mate show you that they love you?

10 Things No One Tells You Before You Move In With Your Mate

The first time I shared a space with someone I was romantically involved with I was not mature enough to handle it. We fought constantly about little things. When you are with the right person the little things don’t matter.

   1.     They are ALWAYS there.

Some couples decide to move in together for financial reasons. Some couples decide to move in together because they are ready to take their relationship to the “next level”. Whatever the reason may be… when you live with your mate THEY ASS IS ALWAYS THERE!

Gone are the days of having an argument and you get to go home to your own place and chill out until you calm down. Nah… there is nowhere to run and there is no place to hide. Now ya’ll are both walking around the house acting crazy and not speaking to one another. In the kitchen stirring the mac and cheese with a vengeance, slamming doors, going to bed and being petty by hogging all of the blankets.

When you had your own place and ya’ll would argue… you would go home and not have to worry about all that foolishness.

   2.     You have to go to bed when your mate goes to bed.

Most of us moved out of our parents place because we didn’t want to go to bed at a certain time. When you have your own place you are free to go to bed when you please, If you chose to go to bed at all.

When you live with your mate and they are ready to call it a night and head to bed… 9 times out of 10 the expect you to be right behind them.

Who made that a rule?

Why do I have to go to bed because YOU are sleepy?

Oh, so because YOU have to get up early tomorrow I can’t watch Wig Reviews on YouTube til 4 in the morning?

We’ve all been there… you decide to buck the system because “YOU’RE GROWN” and you stay up all hours of the night… only to have your mate wake up at 3:57am to get a drink of water and as they walk past you on the couch they say “OH SO YOU STILL UP… YOU JUST NOT GON’ COME TO BED HUH, OH OK.”

   3.     You have a curfew.

I left my mama house because of curfew… you mean to tell me that I am grown and I still have to abide by a curfew?
I think that this is the most difficult thing for people to deal with, having to be home at a “decent” hour. Who gets to decide what is “decent”?

Your decent may be 10pm.
That would never work for me.  I don’t start getting ready to go out until 10pm.  Then after the event, party, club, or whatever the case maybe I like to go to waffle house/ihop with my girls to grab a bite and recap the night… so that’s an additional 2hrs to however long I've been out already.

   4.     No more Pre-Gaming it with the girls.

Before I decided to do the whole “relationship” thing… Whenever I would go out with my girls… Getting ready would be an event in itself. We would all usually meet up at my house to do hair, makeup, and get dressed. The radio would be blasting, we would be taking shots of Tequila and singing loud and off key as we got ready for the night.  My room would look like a tornado hit it. Clothes would be everywhere. The entire house would smell like spritz, toast, and Japanese Cherry Blossoms.

(PLEASE REMEMEBR TO DRINK RESPONSIBLY. STACIE STILETTO INC. DOES NOT SUPPORT DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE.)

   5.     You can no longer come and go as you please.

Every time you walk out the door your mate is always asking where you are going.  Oh and don’t say that you are going to the store… then they want to know what you are going to the store for.

   6.     You can’t spend your money the way you want to spend your money.

I remember when “Caleb” and I were living together he would always say something about the wigs I would buy. I would buy 5 or 6 wigs a week. If Caleb got home before I did I would stash the wigs in the trunk of my car until he left for work the next morning.  A friend of mine does the same thing with her shoes.

   7.     There will always be a war over the remote control.

They want to watch their shows. You want to watch your shows. Both shows are on at the same time. What do you do? You could flip from one channel to the other during the commercial breaks… but I actually like watching commercials. You could let your mate watch their show this week and you catch your next week but why do you have to miss out? Let’s not forget movies… you want to watch Love and Basketball and he wants to watch Belly. When you decide to get up and go watch your shows/movies in the other room… then they want to get an attitude.  You just can’t win!

   8.     You have to deal with their friends.

When you had your own place the only time you would have to deal with their friends is when you would all get together and hang out as a group. That would be maybe once or twice a month. Now that you and your mate share the same address you have to see their friends every other day. It’s cool if you guys get along but if you don’t… that would be pure torture.

   9.     You have to buy two of the same thing.

My mate likes mayo but I like miracle whip. I like Colgate but my mate likes Crest. It’s the little things like this that may not bother you at first but over time you may begin to “feel some type of way” about it.  Next thing you know you and your honey get into an argument and you’re both yelling and screaming and you say “SCREW YOU AND YOUR CHEAP ASS MAYO!!!” It’s funny now but you won’t think it’s so funny when you are going through it.

   10.                         You have to share a room.

I don’t know who came up with this stupid idea. You go from having your own place, your own bed… to sharing a room. I shared a room with my sister when we were younger but I had my own bed! I was free to decorate my side of the room how I pleased. Then when I was finally able to have my own room… omg!!! B2K posters covered every inch of my walls.

When “Jones” and I moved in together we would always argue about decorating the bedroom. Jones is into sports and he wanted the room covered with the Falcons. I wanted the room pink and black.
Eventually we compromised and the room ended up being BLACK (rolls eyes).

Before you decide to move in with your mate you have to be sure if you can deal with all of their uniqueness. You have to stop thinking about “me” and start thinking about “we”.

What are some of the things no one told you?

How did you handle your differences?

If you haven’t done so already you still have a chance to enter to win the 2015 Lovers Giveaway. The entry form is below.

My Half Birthday Is Coming

Greetings Loves!

Ya’ll know I am extra and over the top. I am a huge fan of any holiday that involves me receiving gifts (smile). Don’t make that face, you know you like receiving gifts too!!

My birthday isn’t until the end of the year so I have to get creative. I know that Valentine’s Day is a few weeks away but Valentine’s Day is a celebration of LOVE. I want something more ME… how can I celebrate ME without sounding like a self-centered, stuck up, conceited Bitch?

Celebrating my half birthday is the only logical thing to do!

This year I plan to publicly celebrate my half birthday. I want to have good times, with good food, and good friends. Am I asking too much?

My half birthday is in March and I plan to have a small celebration.

If you are friends with me on Facebook then you know that my favorite food is pizza.

(I know.. I know..)

For my half birthday I would like to have a few friends meet me at CiCi’s Pizza. I go to CiCi’s so much I am on a fist name basis with the Manager!

(SHOUT OUT TO BRUCE!! YOU'RE THE REAL MVP!)

I am not a huge fan of cake. I like it but it is not something that I HAVE TO HAVE. Since it is my half birthday and all, I am hoping that my bestie will make me a peach cobbler.

I square to bob her peach cobbler is the bee’s knees!!

If she is unwilling to make me a peach cobbler then I guess I will order a half of cake from PIECE OF CAKE.

A friend of mine ordered her birthday cake from PIECE OF CAKE last year. Their cakes are super amazing.

After we leave CiCi’s Pizza I want to go back to my house and sip on Piña Coladas while we play JUST DANCE.

As far as gifts are concerned, I am not asking for anything major. I would love for my friends to get me a mini bottle of Malibu Rum (the small shot size) and a king size KitKat.

There you have it, my celebration ideas for my half birthday.

What are your thoughts?

Does celebrating my half birthday make me seem self-absorbed?

Would you celebrate your half birthday?

I would love to hear your thoughts, comment below!

7 Must Have Apps

I am a phone junkie! You can always find me late at night searching YouTube for unboxing reviews (for phones). I will watch every phone review ever post and by the time I get my new phone I already know all the secrets. Gone are the days when I have to ask someone how to do this, that, and the other… I am now the GO TO person in my circle when it comes to the latest phones.

I change phones often and soon as I get my new phone there are 7 apps that automatically get downloaded.

PICSART: This is my favorite photo editing app. The photos that I post of myself on Facebook and Instagram are often edited with Picsart. They have a bunch of amazing filters, clip art, fonts and , masks.

AMAZON KINDLE: I am a huge book worm!! I read like it is going out of style. I would always have a book or two in my purse to read while I was waiting at the doctor, standing in line at the grocery store or sitting in traffic. The Amazon Kindle app allows me to have books on the go without having to physically carry them.

P. TRACKER LITE: I am horrible at counting the days until my next cycle. I can never remember if it is 28 days from the first day of my cycle or do I start counting 28 days from the last day of my cycle. P. Tracker Lite takes the guess work out of it.
All I have to do is TAP the screen when my cycle starts… and tap the screen when it ends. Now when I go to the doctor and they ask me when my last period was I can give them an ACCURATE date.

After you enter the information about your cycle for February, it will show in March, April, May etc. when you are supposed to ovulate and the day you are supposed to start your next cycle.

This is awesome for me because now when I am planning romantic getaways with [insert lovers name here] I can plan around my cycle.
One thing that I love most about this app is the details it allows you to add. A few of those details are levels of pain from cramps, moods, cravings, and you can also add if you have been intimate today or not.

DocuSign: This app has been a life saver! I hate having to wait 7 to 10 business days for someone to mail forms to me. Now all they have to do is email me the forms and I can fill them out and sign them with DocuSign then email it back.

DROPBOX: I use to hate when I would go out and someone would call and tell me they didn’t receive a file I sent… or they needed a file that was on my laptop and I only have my ipad with me.
With Dropbox I no longer have that problem.

Dropbox syncs with all my devices. When I am out and about with just my phone and my professor emails me saying that they need me to resend the last assignment… I can pull it up on my phone using Dropbox and send it right then and there. Gone are the days of me having to “leave the party” to rush home and send a file.

HOOTSUITE: I needed a way to manage all of my social media profiles. I hated having to log out of one then log into the next, then the next. HOOTSUITE allows me to post to each of my social media profiles at the same time. The thing that I love most about Hootsuite is the scheduling feature! Now I can take 2hours on Sunday and schedule my posts for the entire week. Now I can be on social media without being on social media. How cool is that?!

KIK: There was a time when I would give my number out to any and every one. I was like Oprah

“YOU GET MY NUMBER… YOU GET MY NUMBER… YOU GET MY NUMBERRRRR!!!!”

I would often change my number whenever I felt as if my phone was ringing too much (then stop giving ya number out… duh!)

Now that I am older and have my life/business connected to my number I am more selective of who I give my number to.

Kik is a free messaging app that does not require your phone number.  All you have to do is give people your user name and they can contact you. It works over your cell network and also via wifi.

Kik also has a bunch of cool extra features that are super FREE! Kik has games that are interactive. You and your friend GoalGetter1234 can play each other in 4pics 1word… or words with friends… and Kik also has a feature similar to snap chat where you can set a timer for a pic and after 3seconds (or however long you decide) they can no longer access the pic.

Those are my 7 must have apps that I use on a daily basis. I am always searching for new apps to make my life run a bit smoother.

What apps do you use to make your life run smoother?

What are your must have apps?

Instagram Round UP

 Greetings Loves!

Over the past few weeks I have been roaming Instagram trying to get a “feel” for it. Those of you that know me know that I am not a huge fan of IG. I’ve never really given IG a fair shake so I decided for 2015 I would take the time to see what the hype is all about.

On my IG journey I have ran across quite a few amazing people. I plan to share those people with you!

The Liebster Award

I am on cloud 9 right now!!! I received my first blog nomination from Brittany Penny, the brilliant mind behind www.trulybeiconic.com

My blog officially launched September of 2014. I had been researching blog information all summer long trying to decide if I was actually going to blog or not. I made the decision to just jump out there and learn as I go. I did that because I knew that if I didn’t I would never get started. What a journey this has been!

For those that don’t know, The Liebster Award is an award given to bloggers (with 1k or less followers) in recognition by other bloggers. Upon being nominated (tagged on Instagram) you have to answer 11 questions of the nominators choosing and then nominate 11 other bloggers (notify them through Instagram) to answer the 11 questions of your choosing and so on and so on.

I appreciate those of you who take the time to check out my posts here on the site and for following me on social media. Your support means the world to me!

Here are my answers to the questions Brittany from www.trulybeiconic.com asked:

   1.     How did you come up with your blog name?

Stacie Stiletto has been a part of me for as far back as I can remember. When I was younger I would name my dolls and my Barbies “Stacie”.  During my teen years when I would be out with friends and guys would approach us we would all give a fake name. Mine of course was always “Stacie”.

Paring Stacie with Stiletto just feels right. I love Stilettos. My love for stilettos began with my first Barbie. She came with a hot pink pair of stilettos. Every Barbie I got after that came with stilettos, and my mother wore stilettos like it was nobody’s business. I just knew that when I grew up stilettos were going to be MY LIFE.

   2.     Why did you start your blog?
I use to host a mini show on facebook Monday-Friday from 4-5pm. I would consume your newsfeed for one hour about my thoughts feelings and ideas.  When my schedule changed and I was unable to do the show… I received messages from everyone (even strangers) asking when the show was coming back.

I also receive a ton of messages from people asking about relationships, how to spice things up, how to deal with different situations, and different date ideas.

With family, co-workers, and certain Facebook restrictions on my page I was unable to fully be me. I always felt “boxed in” and censored. I would often have to tone down my personality and I hated it.
Stacie Stiletto is where I can truly be me, unapologetic, uncensored,  and free.

3. What do you love most about blogging?

So far the thing that I love most about blogging is the connections that I am making with other bloggers and the interactions with my readers. I honestly was not expecting anyone to really take notice or care about what I had to say when I first started. I was shocked when my page views and subscribers began to grow. I was in tears when I received emails from people saying how my post made them think about situations differently.

4. What is your favorite blog post?

That’s a tough one… it’s a tie between I'm More Than Just A Rental and Fake It Til You Make It.

5. What are some of your goals this year?

My goal for 2015 is to give it my all. I want to see where this can take me. I don’t want to half ass it and then wonder later if I would have done what I am supposed to do where would I be.
I plan to “take chances, make mistakes and get messy!” –Ms. Frizzle

6. What is your favorite store and why?

Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!! I am a huge crafter. Glitter and mod podge and hot glue, OH MY! Hobby Lobby just speaks to my soul.

7. Boots or booties?

Depends…. Are they Stiletto boots and booties?

8. What is your go-to makeup brand and why?

I am a big fan of Black Radiance. Their Color Perfect Liquid Foundation is the bees knees! The reason why I like it is because it gives you DIAMONDS for a GLITTER budget.

9. If offered a million dollars, what would you do with the money?

  ·        Repair my credit

  ·        Buy some land

  ·        Build a 4 bedroom house on that land

  ·        Start a non-profit organization for battered women and/or teens

  ·        Put the rest in the bank for a rainy day

10. What is your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment (so far) is becoming a preschool teacher.

11. Who are your inspirations in life?

My inspirations in life are people who are doing positive things, people who give back to the community, and people who are trying to make a difference in the world.

I would like to nominate:

   1.    What made you start blogging?

   2.    What is one tip that you would give a new blogger?

   3.    What are your blogging goals?

   4.    When do you blog? (mornings, afternoons, nights)

   5.    Have you been to any blogging conferences?

   6.    What would be the perfect blogging opportunity for you?

   7.    What blogger would you most like to work with?

   8.    Do you plan to do any giveaways?

   9.    They say strangers will support you more than people you know… has that been your experience?

  10.                       How do you come up with ideas for new blog posts?

  11.                       What is the most difficult thing you have encountered blogging?
